Vermilion Ukrainian Cultural Association
Biography
The Vermilion Ukrainian Cultural Association was established in 1979 by a group of dedicated community members who saw a need to keep the Ukrainian culture alive & well in their children. The success & continuance of our club for the past 31 years is due to such dedicated families & awesome community support. Our instructors provide the highest level of dance instruction to our students. We are very proud to provide group instruction to almost all ages and we welcome individuals of all skill levels to learn solos, duets, and group dances and be part of our family.

Veselka Ukrainian Dance Association
Biography
Veselka’s charm lies in its ‘living proof’ that individuals of all ages can learn and perform Ukrainian dance. With each performance, our dancers exhibit genuine pride and joy in demonstrating an appreciation for Ukrainian heritage.

Veselka is open to new dancers to join every September. All ages and abilities are welcome to attend weekly classes. Class often opens with barre work, followed by corner work, to establish and perfect skill and combinations. Finally, the majority of class time is dedicated to choreography as performances are often scheduled throughout the year. Veselka performs within the Edmonton area and beyond, with requests for performances flooding in yearly. Recently, Veselka has performed at the Clymont Zabava, DeepFreeze Festival, and celebrated their 30th Anniversary with a multicultural celebration event.
Viter Ukrainian Dancers and Folk Choir
Biography
Over the group’s almost 20 year history, The Viter Ukrainian Dancers and Folk Choir have taken their place among the major performing ensembles of Canada by infusing the folk art of traditional Ukrainian dance and song with modern themes. Our vibrant presentations preserve traditional Ukrainian cultural elements while introducing a contemporary flair. Our group of choristers and musicians interact with the dancers, creating an entertaining and harmonious blend of storytelling.

We are available to perform at a variety of events and functions throughout the year. Our talented dancers and energetic choir provide for a dynamic performance package that will surely thrill and captivate your audience! Viter is capable of customizing the entertainment package provided to accommodate a variety of venues and events, as well as the duration of performance you are seeking. The dancers and choir may be booked separately or as a song & dance package.

Our choir is proud to release their debut CD album of Ukrainian folk songs at the Bloor West Village Toronto Ukrainian Festival in September 2014. CD’s will be for sale afterwards.
Volya School of Ukrainian Dance
Biography
The Volya School of Ukrainian Dance is the feeder school for the Volya Ukrainian Dance Ensemble. Our school ranges from ages 4 to 18. Students are trained in an academic style of Ukrainian dance with emphasis of traditional Ukrainian stage dance, ballet and character dance training.
Rehearsals are held at the Ruth Carse Center for Dance at 11205 – 107 Ave. Edmonton

Biography
Molly Anne is the author of the “Paradise Acres Trilogy” which includes Paradise Acres – the Stry-ker family saga, Lost Paradise and Return to Paradise.

Alex Werstiuk
Biography
Alex has been writing pysanky since 1948 when his mother taught him the art. He writes pysanky in the traditional style as well as decorating eggs with farm scenery, churches and for weddings.
Alex has started using goose eggs to make shadow box style dioramas, scenes within the egg shell.

Alex teaches pysanka writing and will also do demos. Alex also sells his pysanky.
Edith Zawadiuk
Biography
Edith is involved in writing pysanky. She also enjoys wheat weaving and making dough art doves.

Edith is available to do presentations and demonstrations of pysanka writing, wheat weaving and making dough art doves. She will also teach classes.
Iryna Zayarny
Biography
Iryna was born and raised in Ukraine. At an early age, she developed an affinity for many forms of art. Iryna studied at the University of the Arts in Kharkiv, Ukraine and received a Masters degree in Musical Performance and Teaching.In 1998, she moved to Canada with her family, and has taught piano at the Calgary Mount Royal University since then. She entered the Canadian art landscape in 2002, expanding her knowledge and skill by learning firsthand from known painters and art studios, and often attending workshops. In 2009, Iryna earned a Fine Arts diploma with highest honours from Stratford Institute. She was able to develop a unique and identifiable style, combining her musical knowledge and expression with talent as a visual artist.
Iryna chose to paint with oil because of her intense appreciation of the work of the Old Masters and their vivid realism. Irynas’s paintings have been exhibited extensively in individual and group shows, as well as public galleries

Oksana Zhelisko
Biography
Oksana is a Ukrainian born artist who now lives in Edmonton. She has been a professional artist for the past 12 years and an art instructor for the past 3 years.

Oksana teaches oil portraiture for all levels.
Zorya
Biography
Zorya is a vocal-instrumental group featuring solo, duo and trio interpretations of Ukrainian fold and contemporary music.

Biography
Allan Zukiwsky has played bandura for many years.

Christine Zwozdesky
Biography
Christine designs and creates one-of-a-kind hats, fascinators and headpieces for women, men and children, working primarily with straw, felt and fabric as the base, and a wide variety of trims as accents.
Notes
Christine is currently focused on custom orders and selling hatware from her home-based studio.
