“Inspires art, song, and poem. Instrument to grant wishes. Transports us out of winter’s slumber. Causes some to sharpen weapons and plan chemical warfare attacks. Yes, I am talking about the Dandelion. It has not caused an insurrection or freedom convoy, but its creation did just about burn down my house! Find out about my adventures creating my On the Bias, Drops of Sunshine. Let’s discover together your own biases.” – Yvonne
Yvonne Bilan-Wallace invites you to join her in a light-hearted talk into what inspired her to create this latest work. Her artists toolbox includes digital photography, felt, painting, stitch, and textile so you never know which of these tools will bias her works.
This artist talk is part of the On the Bias exhibit in partnership with Fibre Art Network, on view at ACUA from July 6-30, 2022. Call 780-488-8558 or email [email protected] for more details!
About the Artist:
A long professional career as a meteorologist saw Yvonne Bilan-Wallace witness dramatic changes in weather, society, and the natural environment of the Canadian arctic. Nature, disruptions to the natural rhythms, unintended consequences of human actions and ensuing global chaos continue to reappear as themes in her artistic voice. A mixed-media artist, her work often uses felting, eco printing, natural dye and inking techniques to tell her stories. She exhibits in Alberta, Canada and internationally.
