COALESCENCE: Brenda Philp
NOV 05, 2021 to NOV 27, 2021
“Coalescence is a merging of elements to form a single mass and the art presented in this exhibition is a cohesive collection of work created through a process of felting, stitching, dyeing, and beading. Designed to push the limits of the fibre art medium, these tactile, stimulating, otherworldly pieces employ textural components such as cords, nibs, craters, stitching, and beading to add depth and structure, as well as various dyeing techniques, exotic fibres, and embellishments to stimulate a sense of flow, rhythm, and balance. A range of unified, but individually unique works were created by exploring and inventing ways to manipulate wool and other materials… Rhythm, colour, texture, and other compositional elements coalesce to create an environment which allows the viewer to enter a mythical realm of sensory pleasure and escape from the stress of everyday life.”
