Miniatures Art Show Call for Submissions
Alberta Council for the Ukrainian Arts (ACUA) is a community art organization that facilitates and encourages a greater appreciation and awareness of the Ukrainian arts and their cultural significance to the greater Alberta community. Through exhibitions, tours, festivals, educational programs, workshops, and special projects, ACUA promotes growth and provides support to Ukrainian arts and artists living in Alberta. ACUA is located at Suite 100, 10554 110 Street in Edmonton, Alberta.
ACUA is now accepting Expressions of Interest to participate in our group exhibition miniatures art show, happening November 7, 2024 to December 21, 2024. Artists with Ukrainian heritage OR artists with Ukrainian content in their artwork OR non-Ukrainian artists collaborating with Ukrainian artists will be considered who create paintings, prints, photographs, folk art, drawings, mixed media, mosaics, ceramics, or sculpture. Artists are invited to bring up to six pieces at the maximum size of 8″ by 8″ or smaller.
Expression of Interest is required by August 31, 2024. Please submit photos of your work, your biography or curriculum vitae, the number of pieces you would like to submit to the miniatures show, and why you feel your work should be displayed in this exhibition. It is preferred that you submit 1 PDF document, not exceeding 20MB. There is no fee or remuneration for participation, however, your work will be put on sale.
Once your proposal has been accepted, ACUA will accept submissions for the miniatures show at our location in Edmonton by October 17, 2024. You are responsible for dropping artwork off or shipping artwork to our location. All art submissions require a detailed inventory list including a title, medium, size, year, and retail price. Two-dimensional artwork can be framed, unframed, or matted, but must be able to hang on an s-hook.
ACUA will host an opening reception for the exhibition on November 7, 2024. You are strongly encouraged to participate in this event.
ACUA also prepares publicity for exhibitions, and you may be asked to participate in these opportunities. ACUA takes a 25% commission on all sales.

ACUA’s Signature Artist Series is a unique monthly artist exhibit dedicated to showcasing Alberta-based Ukrainian artists, artists working in Ukrainian mediums, or non-Ukrainian artists who collaborate with Ukrainian artists. Art is displayed through a variety of mediums, telling stories of Ukrainian culture and experiences. For each exhibition, ACUA hosts an opening reception, prepares publicity for participating artists, and invites the community to participate in this event.
ACUA is now accepting submissions for performing artists to participate in the Signature Artist Series opening receptions. There will be six opportunities for artists during the 2024 – 2025 season. These include working with visual artists Oksana Zhelisko, a group miniatures show, Russell Sawchuk, Carmella and Mika Haykowsky, and a group show featuring Ukrainian folk tales. The opening receptions will be hosted on September 19 and November 7, 2024 and January 9, February 27, and April 17, 2025.
ACUA welcomes any type of performing art including music, poetry reading, book excerpt reading, art technique demonstration, dance, etc. Please submit photos or video of the work you would like to present during the opening reception, your biography or curriculum vitae, if you have a preference to date and visual artist, and why you feel your work would complement the Signature Artist Series exhibition.
Expressions of Interest must be received by August 17, 2024. It is preferred that you submit 1 PDF document, not exceeding 20MB.
