Originally from Regina, Saskatchewan, Annie (née Halapatz) Lyzaniwski is now retired and living in Calgary.
Anne has always had a love of Ukrainian arts and culture and has been involved in the Ukrainian community all of her life. During the years her children were growing up in the 1970s and 1980s, parents were responsible for embroidering and sewing their Ukrainian dancing costumes. She spent countless hours embroidering shirts and blouses for the Poltava, Hutzul, and Carpathian region costumes. She also incorporated embroidery into contemporary clothing. Anne continues to sew and embroider as a hobby and by creating small pictures of pattern components from her collection of embroidery books, shares the beauty of the colourful embroidery with others.
