Many families have beautiful embroidered and handmade textiles tucked away in drawers and closets, treasured but rarely seen or used. This workshop explores how to thoughtfully preserve, repurpose, and celebrate these meaningful pieces.
Participants will learn techniques for incorporating heirloom textiles into wearable art, home décor, or functional keepsakes, ensuring their stories continue to be seen, shared, and enjoyed for generations to come.
All other supplies will be provided. All If you have a sewing machine bring it.
“As a first-generation Canadian born to a father who immigrated from Hungary and a mother from Ireland, I grew up surrounded by beautiful handmade and embroidered textiles that connected our family to history, culture, and loved ones,” says Deb.
My mother taught me how to sew and create meaningful pieces from treasured family items, while the textiles from my Hungarian heritage inspired a lifelong appreciation for craftsmanship and storytelling.”
