Residency Program

ACUA's Artist in Residency Program is designed to promote artists of Ukrainian heritage, and to introduce non-Ukrainian heritage artists to Ukrainian arts and culture. We encourage all artists, poets, writers, musicians, and more in all media to apply.

Through the ACUA Artist in Residency Program, residents are provided with the opportunity to work with our gallery, live and work in Edmonton, develop individual projects, and immerse themselves in the Ukrainian-Canadian atmosphere that ACUA fosters.

The cost of the ACUA Artist in Residency Program for the month of July is $1,050 CAD.

As a non-profit organization devoted to the promotion of Ukrainian Arts, applicants must fall under these three categories:

  • Be an artist of Ukrainian heritiage or background, not necessarily creating artworks reflecting your Ukrainian heritage.
  • Be an artist from the country of Ukraine, not necessarily creating artworks reflecting your Ukrainian heritage.
  • Be an artist free of Ukrainian background, and during the residency focus on learning and creating artworks related to Ukrainian culture.

Applicants must be at least 20 years old. A good level of English is required, or Ukrainian. Applicants must send in 10 images with an image list, a statement, a letter of intent, and a letter describing your Ukrainian heritage.
